San Diego State moved into both the AP and coaches polls this year and ending a 20-plus year drought of being ranked. A new streak is now in the works and hopefully one that last weeks and not years for the Aztecs to become a ranked team once again.
The lost to South Alabama — a 42-28 game that was much closer than the final score — pushed the Aztecs out and are receiving votes in both polls.
Air Force who defeated a previously undefeated Navy team received votes in both polls but are no where near being ranked and if you count through the votes received then the Falcons are 35th in the AP poll and 30th in the coaches poll.
Boise State is the only Mountain West team ranked after their home victory over Utah State and now have climbed into the top 20 in both polls sitting at 19th in each.
The Broncos are the second highest rated team outside of the Group of Five conferences and only trail Houston who is 6th and 5th in each poll.
With San Diego State and Air Force receiving votes it is very possible that there could be three teams from the conference ranked by Halloween since none of the three play each other before then.
Here are the rankings, including a few advanced metrics which also have the Broncos in each of these top 25 polls.
