Week 2 Mountain West football odds: Hawaii is a gigantic underdog

The Week 2 slate of Mountain West games is much better, but that also means that the lines will not be in favor. Also, this is a shorter version than initially due to that post was blown to dust and didn't save.

Gotta go with Utah to cover and win because Utah State's performance against Southern Utah was so bad. The Aggies should improve and not get blown out too bad, but two touchdowns seems appropriate.

Fresno State is still improving but this line jumped nine points to 29.5 is way too much for me. Running back Marteze Waller will help the Bulldogs move the ball and control some clock, but go with Fresno State to cover but not win.

This line being big is one thing but increasing from 38 to 41 is a huge number and while Ohio State is looking every bit as the best team in college football, taking a team to win by 41 or more points is audacious. Go with Hawaii to cover but still fall short by maybe four touchdowns.

Not sure how Wyoming is a near touchdown favorite after losing to a FCS team last week, but then again Eastern Michigan is one of the worst FBS teams. Wyoming will win but not cover.

Minnesota is an up and coming Big 10 team and hung around with TCU in their season opening loss, and it is hard to tell about Colorado State as they blew out Savannah State. This could be a risky pick but the Rams at home are quite good and should win and cover this game.

Boise State is a small road favorite despite BYU starting a true freshman quarterback and with little to no running game. The Broncos struggled on offense last week and the Cougars defense is a solid unit, but look for Boise to win and cover.

The betting public loves Cal, Jared Goff and Sonny Dykes as this line double from one touchdown to being a two-touchdown favorite. Rocky Long's defense is very good and the best player could possibly be Aztecs running back Donnell Pumphrey who should have a big day against this Cal defense. At the very least look for San Diego State to cover, and likely win on the road.

The first conference game of the year is a test for the Spartans rush defense against the Falcons ground game. Air Force should win and cover, but do not expect this to be a blowout victory.

New Mexico is a favorite!!!!! That is just crazy. Catch this game if you can on ESPN3. This will be a high-scoring game with two different styles of play with the Lobos ground attack and Tulsa's passing game under new head coach and Art Briles former offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery. Going with the home Lobos to win and cover.

UNLV is getting better but true freshman quarterback Josh Rosen is really good and should have a good day against this Rebel defense. Thirty points is a lot but UNLV should be able to cover but still might lose by three to four touchdowns.
