After a one-and-done showing in 2014 at The Basketball Tournament, the Air Force Bomb Squad found an easy victory Friday morning in Los Angeles over Too Fresh. The team, made up of former Air Force Falcons, cruised to a 116-66 victory to advance in the million dollar tournament. The Bomb Squad will face Team BBallBreakdown in Los Angeles Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p.m MDT.
The game wasn't what you would expect from a team of former Falcons, as they ran an up-tempo attack against Too Fresh, scoring lots of points off turnovers and defensive rebounds. The Bomb Squad finished with five players in double digits, led by Antoine Hood with 19 and Michael Lyons with 18. Rounding out the double digit scorers were Todd Fletcher with 15, Taylor Broekhuis with 12 and Nick Fitzgerald with 10. Every player on the team would score on the day and the Falcons were unconscious from three-point territory, shooting 17 of 37 on the day.
The Falcons towered over their opponents and were also just physically stronger. There were long stretches in the first half and early in the second half were the Bomb Squad was able to do whatever they wanted on the court. They dominated the boards and generally breezed through the day.
The Falcons should face a tougher opponent on Saturday. According to the TBT website, Team BBallBreakdown is described as follows:
A YouTube sensation, Coach Nick has been providing his analysis and critiques to thousands of subscribers for years.
