San Diego State football recruiting: Aztecs add TE Parker Houston

The Aztecs pick up 2016 senior Parker Houston from Sparks, Nevada.

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The San Diego State Aztecs picked up a 2016 verbal commit in tight end Parker Houston from Sparks, Nevada.

Houston is a 6-foot-3, 230 pound in-coming senior who looks to be a solid recruit for Rocky Long. His junior season saw 40 receptions, 525 yards, and 10 touchdowns. Upon campus arrival, Aztecs will be asking Houston to continue his focus on pass-catching.

After fielding offers from Idaho and Toledo, Houston chose San Diego State. One of the highly touted tight ends in Nevada, Houston fits the profile of a San Diego State tight end.

Although I've stated that the expectations for the tight ends previously, Houston was recruited for his hands first and not blocking. His frame and size matches the current roster of tight ends, but his skills as a pass-catching tight end could make him a star at San Diego State.

Here are his highlights.
