Boise State continues to reach back into its past by hiring someone the fans know very well. Just days after athletic director Mark Coyle accepted the AD post at Syracuse, it is being reported that former Boise State Associate Athletic Director Curt Apsey will be returning to Boise as the Boncos new athletic director. That announcement is expected today at a press conference set for this afternoon.
The 53 year old Apsey was the senior associate athletic director from 1998-2014, under former AD Gene Bleymaier and continued in that role under Coyle. Apsey left BSU last fall to accept the AD's position at Carroll College in Montana.
Among other things Apsey is known for his fund raising abilities, and was a force behind a number of important sports efforts in Boise such as the building of the Caven-Williams indoor sports arena, the basketball complex, and the Stueckle Sky Center.
