Utah State filled a big need in its 2016 recruiting class last weekend (5/23) when they secured the commitment of Mesa Community College DT Danielson Auelua. Auelua, who went to high school at Lone Peak, Utah, visited the Aggies last Friday before committing the next day.
With the two nose guard anchors upfront in Travis Seefeldt and David Moala both being seniors this year it was critical for the coaching staff to bring in someone to play immediately. Auelua fits the mold perfectly. At 6'2" 290 pounds he matches both Seefeldt and Moala in size and will be coming in with experience. Danielson will be expected to lead the Mesa C.C. defensive line in his sophomore season as one of the few holdovers from a very good 2014 defensive line.
Also worth noting is that Auelua is Utah State's highest rated commit since 2011 (Bojay Filimoeatu) according to 247.com composite ratings. Danielson will be a junior in the 2016 class and could be on campus as early as January in time for the spring semester and spring football. Check out his highlights below:
