The Boise State Broncos picked up another recruit for their 2016 class when it landed a verbal commitment from Rockin, California, defensive lineman Chase Hatada. Hatada is very familiar with the Boise State program despite living in California.
His dad, Ian Hatada, is a former track champiion with the Broncos.
"We've been watching games ever since I was little," Chase Hatada told the Idaho Statesman. "Ever since then, I've had this love for Boise State. I was pretty much waiting for that offer, and when I got it, I couldn't not commit there."
Hatada held offers from Washington State, Army and over half of the Mountain West. San Diego State was very much in this race as Hatada is good friends with Aztecs quarterback Jake Rodrigues, but the Broncos were always the leader.
"It was like a no-brainer for me," Hatada told the Idaho Press-Tribune. "I'm just really happy. ... It takes a lot of the stress out. The process was super, super stressful. It's definitely a lot of weight off my back now and now I can focus on my senior year and get after it."
Hatada has a chance to play early as Boise State is losing seven seniors off of its defensive line this year, so that opportunity for early playing time was another factor for picking to play college football with the Broncos.
