Report: UNLV will play Oregon at MGM Grand in December

Dave Rice continues to make UNLV's nonconference schedule one of the toughest in college basketball.

According to Jon Rothstein, UNLV will be taking on a Pac-12 opponent at the MGM Grand for the second straight season.

Last season UNLV fell to Utah in a neutral site game at MGM. That game overlapped with Utah's football team appearing in the Las Vegas Bowl, so it truly was a neutral site game in terms of fan attendance.

But the Runnin' Rebels certainly benefit from getting to stay home, although Dave Rice may have his team stay in a hotel and treat it like a road game. That is the strategy he uses for the Mountain West Tournament, despite it being played at UNLV's home arena.

UNLV adds Oregon, an NCAA Tournament team a year ago, to an already difficult schedule. The Rebels are scheduled to head to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational from November 23-25. Joining UNLV will be Kansas, Indiana, UCLA, St. John's, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Chaminade.

Also on the schedule is a home game with Arizona State, and trips to Arizona and Wichita State next season.
