When it comes to recruiting you win some and you lose some, and the Lobos just lost one as Mitch Lightfoot, a 6'8 power forward, is considered one of the best players in the Southwest has decided to reopen his recruitment. Lightfoot had committed to the Lobos prior to this season but because he has not signed his National Letter of Intent he is free to sign with another team if he chooses.
Lightfoot helped Gilbert Christian capture the Division II boys state title in Arizona while averaging 17.9 points, 9.7 rebounds, 6.8 steals and 4.8 blocks. The Arizona star has been contacted by Arizona State and their new head coach Bobby Hurley and also by the Pac-12's Utah. The University of Kansas has also sent a recruiter to watch the newly available Lightfoot so while he said he has not ruled out New Mexico it is highly unlikely he will recommit to the Lobos.
