New Mexico defeated Wyoming 52-49 in overtime Saturday, using a 6-0 run with 38 seconds let to secure a win in its final game of the regular season after an 8-game slide.
The Cowboys (22-9, 11-7 Mountain West) had a chance to cut New Mexico's lead to one, but Larry Nance Jr.'s shot missed with 15 seconds left. It was the fourth consecutive game Wyoming has taken to overtime.
New Mexico's Obij Aget and Devon Williams each scored 14 points, as the Lobos finished 15-15 and 7-11 in the Mountain West. Hugh Greenwood added 12 points. Williams had eight rebounds while Aget and Greenwood each grabbed seven.
Wyoming's Nance scored a game-high 21 points and had eight rebounds, and Riley Grabau added 15 points.
With the seeding locked in, Wyoming will face Utah State in the tournament next Thursday, while New Mexico will square off against Air Force in a first-round matchup on Wednesday.
