Air Force Falcons: 2015 Schedule and Wake Forest Agreement

The Falcons appear to have finalized their 2015 schedule and announce a 2022 game at Wake Forest.

Brian Losness-USA TODAY Sports

The Air Force Falcons along with the Mountain West Conference announced their 2015 football schedule earlier this month. The Falcons will see a switch in who they play from the West division while facing their Mountain division rivals again. Air Force will also face potential National Championship contender Michigan State from the Big Ten and as always face fellow military academies Navy and Army. The Falcons will be looking to duplicate or improve on last season's record of 10-3, which was the best season ever under current coach Troy Calhoun.

The schedule is a difficult one. The traditional home game against a FCS team is followed immediately by a conference opener in San Jose State. Then, there is a brutal road trip opening in Big Ten country with the Michigan State Spartans, who are widely considered to be Ohio State's main competition this season. After a bye week, which Air Force is apparently going to leave open instead of fill with a 13th game under the Hawai'i rule, the Falcons get the first battle in defending its Commander-in-Chief trophy on the road at Navy. Those two games could be the toughest stretch of the season for the Falcons

The last three games of the season could be as difficult as the Michigan State and Navy stretch. Air Force will play its last home game at home versus Utah State, a team it has not been able to defeat since the Aggies entered the Mountain West. Then, it hits the road for the final two games of the season. First will be a trip to Boise where it will face the Broncos on the blue turf. The Falcons biggest win in 2014 was the 28-14 upset over Boise State in which the Falcons forced seven turnovers. After the trip to Boise, the Falcons head south on 1-25 to take on the New Mexico Lobos, a young team that almost beat Air Force last season in a 38-35 offensive shootout.

Falcons agree to travel to Wake Forest in 2022

Wake Forest has announced that it has signed the Falcons to a home game in 2022. The Demon Deacons and Air Force have only faced each other one time, a 42-0 victory by the Falcons in 1998.

Air Force has found itself facing these kind of one game no return agreements recently. This season they make a trip to Michigan State with the Spartans not returning the trip. The Falcons will head to Michigan in 2017, even though there are reports that Jim Harbaugh would like to get out of that agreement. And now Air Force heads to North Carolina to face Wake Forest in 2022. It will be a challenge for Air Force to get a Power 5 team to head to Colorado Springs.
