It was simple math, the New Mezico Lobos have two outgoing seniors and three incoming freshman putting the Lobos over the allotted 13 scholarships for the 2015-2016 season, so  omeone had to leave.

It was announced at Craig Neal's end of the year press conference that Arthur Edwards would be the player leaving. Edwards a 6'5 guard from Temple Hills Maryland joined UNM via North West Florida State College. He will be a senior during the upcoming season and because he is scheduled to graduate from New Mexico he can transfer from the team without having to sit out a year.

Craig Neal said that the decision to transfer was mutual and Edwards wanted to seek out playing time at another school. He started two games for the Lobos this year after Cullen Neal was injured in the Puerto Rico tip off only to injury his own hand again in the Finale of the tournament against Texas A&M.

Upon his return, Edwards saw reduced playing time due to the emergence of freshman Sam Logwood and Xavier Adams. Edwards averaged 3.9 points and 2.0 rebounds this season in 12 minutes a game.  Coach Neal said at this time Edwards is the only player or coach that plans to leave the program.
