NIT Bracketology: What Mountain West teams will

What Mountain West teams will be in the NIT?

Troy Babbitt-USA TODAY Sports

The Mountain West title game is about to tip off so this article might be worthless in about four hours. The Wyoming Cowboys are in a must win situation if they want to make the NCAA Tournament, but a loss more than likely sends them to the NIT, or even to some the CBI tournament.

The Cowboys are pegged as a four seed according NYC Buckets and matching up against Saint Mary's, but at home. Also, consider that that teams that win their regular season conference title but don't win their tournament get an auto bid to the NIT.

Here is their bracket.

Over at Bracket Matrix they are not as sold on Wyoming as others are. They have Wyoming pegged in the CBI tournament, but the Cowboys are one of 12 teams in consideration for the NIT but are not in the NIT field.

Wyoming should be a safe bet to make the field as they have 24 wins heading into the Mountain West title game and have an RPI at 80. Plus, they beat Boise State and Colorado State twice and have a win over New Mexico State who is in the finals of the WAC tournament.
