Hawaii Football Recruiting: Warriors sign OT J.R. Hensley

Hawaii lands the 312-pound Offensive Tackle from Edmond, Oklahoma

Marco Garcia-USA TODAY Sports

J.R. Hensley, an Offensive Tackle out of from Sante Fe High in Edmond, OK, signed his NLI to join Coach Norm Chow and Hawaii for the 2015 season.

Name: J.R. Hensley

Height: 6-5

Weight: 312

School: Sante Fe

Rating: Three-star (Rivals), Two-star (247)

Right off the bat, Hensley has good size and height for an OT. Even with his size, he can shoot off the line and get his hands on a defender with relative quickness. Watching his tape, he has a good first step in run blocking, getting ahold of defenders and driving his legs off the line. One area of improvement to look toward during his time at UH is his lateral movement, especially in pass protection. He has the size and strength to be involved in the rotation at OT, but his technique needs work to compete for a starting spot among the front five at UH.
