During his senior season he led his team to the public schools 3A championship and set a school record with 1,179 yards receiving. He was named first team all-city, all-state, and all-Southeastern. He was also chosen to play in three Pennsylvania all-star games the Big 33, the Shesapeake Bowl, and the states East vs. West game.
After graduating high school Hart-Johnson committed to play football at L.A. Valley College in Los Angeles, California. He played one season there and caught 35 passes for 561 yards and four touchdowns. He averaged 16 yards per catch and was 9th in his conference in receptions and 5th in yards. He will have three years of eligibility left entering the 2015 season.
