So far this game has been about "bend-don't-break" rush defenses. Air Force has been able to relatively slow down (but not stop) Donnel Pumphrey, and the Aztecs have played assignment football very well, holding the Falcons to one big play.
A muffed punt led to an early Falcons touchdown, however San Diego State responded quickly on a 24-yard pass from Christian Chapman to Donnel Pumphrey.
Jacobi Owens got a 65-yard run to set the Falcons up on the 6-yard line. However, the Aztec defense held and forced the Falcons to a 21-yard field goal.
Almost immediately, the Aztecs led a long drive on their own with Chapman once again connecting to Pumphrey for a giant 40-yard reception. Air Force held in the red zone and the Aztecs were forced to make a field goal, which tied the score at 10.
Owens leads the Falcons with 94 yards rushing, while Pumphrey has 71 yards on the ground and another 64 yards receiving.
Both teams are going to have to open up the playbook more if either team is going to blow the score open, otherwise we could continue to see a low-scoring match.
