Home field advantage could be the key factor in Saturday's Mountain West title game between San Diego State and Air Force, at least according to those who set the lines in Las Vegas. The betting line opened at 3.5 points, then climbed to 5.5 and rose to 6.5 points as of Tuesday.
Then the money started coming in for Air Force and that likely was due to Aztecs starting quarterback Maxwell Smith going down with a torn ACL in the season finale against Nevada. The current line has shifted down to the Aztecs being a 4.5-point favorite.
That amount sounds right with San Diego State playing at home where they are 5-1 with the only loss being an overtime loss to South Alabama. Against the spread at home San Diego State is 3-2-1 and overall is 7-4-1. As for Air Force, they are 8-4 against the spread, 3-3 on the road against the spread and their actual record away from Colorado Springs is 2-4.
This line has been fluid ever since it was announced and it could change a point or two even more before Saturday's late afternoon kickoff.
