Former Fresno State head coach Pat Hill was linked to a report that said he was interested and one of applicants for the Hawaii vacancy. Hill, who currently is part of the ESPN 940 broadcast crew for Fresno State football, is not sure how his name was linked to the opening.

"I don't even know how that got out," Hill said via the Fresno Bee prior to Thursday's game against Nevada. "Just a lot of people talking."

Despite Hill saying his name is not linked to the job, when asked about if he had interest his comment was, "not right now," so that is not fully a denial but pretty close to it.

Hill is rooting for Hawaii to bring back former head coach June Jones and feels that the former Warriors head coach knows what it takes to win on the islands and can build the program back up pretty quickly.
