Who are you taking this week against the spread?

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Get your picks in early this week as games begin on Thursday with Fresno State hosting Nevada and then we have games on Friday and all day Saturday.

Here are my picks.

10:30 PM Game Time Record Line Betting Trend
Teams Win-Loss Streak Open Current Spread Money O/U
Nevada (4-4) (1-2 A) W-1 -3.5 -4 75% 46% 13%
Fresno State (2-6) (2-2 H) L-1 56.5 55 25% 54% 87%

As discussed on our Week 10 podcast preview, Nevada is a team that has shown signs of playing well or dropping down to the level of their competition. Yet, it can be debatable where the Wolf Pack's baseline of play is. Regardless of that, Fresno State's defense leaves something to desire so lets take Nevada to win and cover.

11:30 PM Game Time Record Line Betting Trend
Teams Win-Loss Streak Open Current Spread Money O/U
BYU (6-2) (1-2 A) W-4 -12 -13.5 98% 90% 100%
San Jose State (4-4) (3-1 H) W-1 56.5 56.5 2% 10% 0%

BYU is nearly a two-touchdown favorite on the road against a sneaky good San Jose State team. The Spartans winning is probably a stretch, however the Cougars are likely missing three starting offensive lineman and that could help San Jose State be more competitive in this game. However, the Spartans are down wide receiver Tyler Winston. My picks is San Jose State to lose but cover the 13.5 points.

3:30 PM Game Time Record Line Betting Trend
Teams Win-Loss Streak Open Current Spread Money O/U
Army (2-6) (1-3 A) L-1 54.0 49.5 14% 0% 100%
Air Force (5-3) (4-0 H) W-2 -17.5 -17 86% 100% 0%

This is a huge line in a rivalry game between the service academies, but Air Force seems to have found its groove with Jacobi Owens finally getting the bulk of the carries. Keeping it simple with the Falcons to win and cover.

3:00 PM Game Time Record Line Betting Trend
Teams Win-Loss Streak Open Current Spread Money O/U
Colorado State (3-5) (1-1 A) L-1 -10 -11.5 80% 0% 0%
Wyoming (1-8) (1-3 H) L-2 51.0 51 20% 0% 0%

Colorado State can be considered Nevada's doppelganger where they play to the level of their competition. This game the Rams should have a big game against the Cowboys in part because that Wyoming secondary struggles. Look for a good day by quarterback Nick Stevens tossing the ball to Rashard Higgins; Rams win and cover.

6:00 PM Game Time Record Line Betting Trend
Teams Win-Loss Streak Open Current Spread Money O/U
Hawaii (2-7) (0-5 A) L-6 55.0 54.5 18% 100% 0%
UNLV (2-6) (1-3 H) L-3 -6 -9.5 82% 0% 100%

The Rebels are a 9.5-point favorite at home, and one has to look back a long time to see when UNLV was favored by this many points. Hawaii is playing in its first game without Norm Chow and are being led by Chis Naeole, so there is the possibility they come out big for the new guy. Yet, the Warriors are such a mess look for UNLV to win and cover. Never thought I'd say that.

3:30 PM Game Time Record Line Betting Trend
Teams Win-Loss Streak Open Current Spread Money O/U
Utah State (5-3) (1-3 A) W-1 -14.5 -14.5 84% 20% 100%
New Mexico (4-4) (3-1 H) L-1 58.5 56 16% 80% 0%

Utah State is getting a lot of points in this game and 14.5 seems like a lot, especially since the Aggies rush defense has been subpar the past few weeks. New Mexico has a top-15 rushing offense and will test the Utah State line. Luckily for the Aggies they are likely getting back starting defensive lineman David Moala and Ricky Ali'ifua. Those two being out has caused the Utah State defense to take a dip. The amount points is a lot in this game but look for Utah State to just barely cover this game, and in the neighborhood of winning by 17.
