Boise State lands DE from Las Vegas

A three-star defensive end out of Las Vegas, Nevada is the latest recruit to pledge to Boise State’s 2016 football class. Derriyon Shaw, 6-4, 224 lbs, committed Sunday a week after his visit to the university campus. Shaw plays defensive end at Legacy High School in North Las Vegas. Before he transferred to Legacy, he played last season for Lanier High School in Sugar Hill, Georgia, where as a junior he accumulated 61 tackles, 11 sacks, nine quarterback hurries and three pass deflections. Shaw has the speed to move around the field and runs the 40 yard dash in 4.82 seconds.

Several sources indicate that Defensive End Derriyon Shaw of Las Vegas has verbally committed to Boise State. He is a four star recruit.

"That’s the overall feel (in Boise). It’s a family atmosphere with the players and the coaches," Shaw said in outlining his decision to commit to Boise State. "That community is wonderful. They stand behind the team."

Before deciding on Boise State he was scheduled to visit San Diego State and Washington State, but now says he will skip those visits and is closing down his recruiting. Shaw had at least 14 offers, not only from a number of Mountain West schools, but from North Carolina, Wake Forrest, Cincinnati, Arizona State, Washington and Washington State as well.

Shaw is the 15th known commitment for the Broncos’ 2016 recruiting class.
