New Mexico basketball: Devon Williams taken off court on stretcher with neck injury

Scary moment as New Mexico's Devon Williams laid face down on the court while being attended too with a neck injury.

Troy Babbitt-USA TODAY Sports

With just over 11 minutes left in the game between rivals New Mexico and New Mexico State, there was a scary scene when Lobos forward Devon Williams collapsed to the court, it should be noted that there was not contact. He laid there for several minutes face down and was ultimately taken off the court on a stretcher, and with a  neck injury.

Williams will be staying over night in a Las Cruces, New Mexico, hospital as will some of the Lobos staff as he will be evaluated for the possibly neck injury.

Here is the latest from his mother

Williams started 30 of the Lobos’ 31 games last season, averaging 6.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
