This week's Mountain West action is all on Saturday and will have all 12 teams in league play. There are some interesting lines and a few that have moved quite a bit since their opening.
2:00 PM Game Time | Record | Line | Betting Trend
Teams | Win-Loss | Streak | Open | Current | Spread | Money | O/U |
Utah State | (5-4) (1-4 A) | L-1 | -1.5 | -1.5 | 20% | n/a | n/a |
Air Force | (6-3) (5-0 H) | W-3 | 53.0 | 51.5 | 80% | n/a | n/a |
Last week, this game would have been huge for both teams, and it still somewhat is. However, with Utah State's loss against New Mexico their chances to climb back to the top of the Mountain Division are slim. Despite Air Force winning three straight and four of five, but they are some reason a home underdog. Utah State is not playing well so lets go with Air Force to not only cover but win.
4:00 PM Game Time | Record | Line | Betting Trend
Teams | Win-Loss | Streak | Open | Current | Spread | Money | O/U |
San Jose State | (4-5) (1-3 A) | L-1 | 51.0 | 52 | 24% | n/a | n/a |
Nevada | (5-4) (3-2 H) | W-2 | -1 | -1 | 76% | n/a | n/a |
A win by Nevada makes them bowl eligible while San Jose State needs the win to get one step closer. This game has the potential be an interesting matchup with a lot of points, and the 52-point over/under backs that up. Home field advantage might be too much, so lets take Nevada to win and cover the small single point spread. Yet, take the over.
7:00 PM Game Time | Record | Line | Betting Trend
Teams | Win-Loss | Streak | Open | Current | Spread | Money | O/U |
UNLV | (3-6) (1-3 A) | W-1 | 58.0 | 58 | 13% | n/a | n/a |
Colorado State | (4-5) (2-4 H) | W-1 | -6.5 | -7.5 | 87% | n/a | n/a |
Another game where both teams are fighting to become bowl eligibility, and for UNLV a loss means they are out of contention. Colorado State has just four wins and this is a good chance to even their record. As for the talent the touchdown-plus favorite for the Rams makes sense, but Colorado State has been inconsistent this year. Despite Colorado State being up and down my pick is for the Rams to win and cover.
10:15 PM Game Time | Record | Line | Betting Trend
Teams | Win-Loss | Streak | Open | Current | Spread | Money | O/U |
New Mexico | (5-4) (1-3 A) | W-1 | 57.0 | 57.5 | 33% | n/a | n/a |
Boise State | (7-2) (4-0 H) | W-2 | -29.5 | -30 | 67% | n/a | n/a |
Since 2011, Boise State has won every game against New Mexico yet only one game had the Broncos winning by more than 30 points, that game was the 45-0 game in 2011. However, the past three games have been much closer with an 11-point, three-point and 28-point contests, yet all in favor of Boise State. The Lobos are improving but the Broncos remember last years game and will win but not cover.
10:30 PM Game Time | Record | Line | Betting Trend
Teams | Win-Loss | Streak | Open | Current | Spread | Money | O/U |
Wyoming | (1-9) (0-5 A) | L-3 | 50.0 | 51 | 20% | n/a | n/a |
San Diego State | (6-3) (3-1 H) | W-5 | -18.5 | -24 | 80% | n/a | n/a |
Wyoming is a complete mess on their defense and this is a game where the San Diego State offense will have a great game, and just maybe the coaching staff will allow quarterback Maxwell Smith throw the ball a lot to give him some confidence. Brian Hill will keep the Cowboys reasonably close which is why they will cover but lose to San Diego State.
11:00 PM Game Time | Record | Line | Betting Trend
Teams | Win-Loss | Streak | Open | Current | Spread | Money | O/U |
Fresno State | (2-7) (0-4 A) | L-2 | 56.5 | 56 | 28% | n/a | n/a |
Hawaii | (2-8) (2-2 H) | L-7 | -4 | -4.5 | 72% | n/a | n/a |
I guess I have to make a pick in this game. Neither have a good quarterback so there could be a lot of turnovers in this game. It would be a lot more fun to take the over/under on how many quarterbacks will play and 2.5 would be the line and the over would be my take on that. As for the game, I just flipped a coin and it came up in favor of Fresno State, so I am taking the Bulldogs to win and cover.
