The Wyoming Cowboys basketball team have been announced as half of the field for a new college basketball tournament in November 2017. This new tournament will be played in the Cayman Islands and the three teams that are joining Wyoming are Cincinnati, Iowa and the University of Alabama-Birmingham. The other half of the tournament participants will be announced at a later date.
"We are excited to have these basketball programs with rich traditions agree to be part of what promises to be one of the top preseason college basketball events annually," tournament director Maury Hanks said via the Wyoming Star-Tribune.
These four teams make the early part of the field loaded as all four of these squads made the 2015 NCAA tournament. The other half of the tournament probably will not be as high profile as these four teams but this first-year tournament has a solid base in what could be an exciting tournament.
