Former Mountain West members Utah and San Diego State have matched up recently in basketball but they are now returning to the gridiron in a home-and-home series in 2021 and 2022, per FBSchedules.com. The exact dates are Sept. 18, 2021 in San Diego and the back end will be in Salt Lake City on Sept. 17, 2022.
Utah has not actively scheduled games against teams from their former conference and this will be just their second football game against a Mountain West foe. The prior game came in the Las Vegas Bowl when Utah rolled passed Colorado State last year, 45-10.
The last time that San Diego State and Utah played was back in 2010 when the Utes won 38-34, and the last time the Aztecs won was i 2005 by a score of 28-19. The series leans toward Utah who is 17-12-1.
This is a far cry from San Diego State scheduling the likes of South Alabama, but to be fair the Aztecs usually schedule pretty good. They played Penn State and Call this year and have played North Carolina with future schedules including UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State and Stanford.
Here is how the 2021 and 2022 schedules are scheduled as of now
2021
09/04 - New Mexico State
09/11 - at Arizona
09/18 - Utah
2022
9/03 - Arizona
9/17 - at Utah
