Last year, the Aggies held the Rams to their lowest point total in a win all season long. a 16-13 win in which the Aggie defense completely shut down the high powered Ram offense. It was a homecoming win in which the CSU student section stormed the field after the game winning field goal by Jared Roberts. Fast forward to today, both teams are opening conference play against each other. This time it's Utah State's turn to host the Rams for homecoming.

The Rams are 2-2 on the season with back to back overtime losses to Power 5 opponents Minnesota and Colorado. Two games in which the Rams should've won. The Rams have the ability to be explosive again, but Utah State's defense has proven to be their kryptonite. The Rams are still having some issues on offense in regards to finishing drives and the kicking game. However they've seemed to turn a corner in the win last week against UTSA, in which they were able to finish drives with touchdowns and not field goals. They also putting up nearly 450 yards of offense, meaning in they were able to move the ball very well.
Despite the Rams putting up 450 yards of offense their defense didn't play very well. They also gave up nearly 450 yards of offense including 280 yards rushing. There was also a lot of mental mistakes as well committing a lot of penalties, just as they were getting ready to get off the field. The catch a bit of a break because Utah State's offense has been anemic so far this season. This defense will need to play like their first two games in order to win this game.
The Rams have the offensive edge in this game. However as mentioned earlier, the Aggie defense have proved to be their kryptonite in recent years. I believe its going to be another low scoring game, but this game is very winnable for the Rams. The Aggies are without Chuckie Keeton and that's a big loss. This game is going to come to which team can pose their will the most. For Utah State it's defense, and its offense for Colorado State. If Colorado State can move the ball and get in the end zone they'll win this game. Don't put this on the foot of the kicker, we all know how that turned out.
Prediction: Colorado State 24 Utah State 20. A late touchdown allows the Rams to steal one, as they begin the murders row of their schedule. If Keeton was playing I would probably change my pick, but this is a struggling offense. Colorado State's offense struggles most of the game but moves the ball late to win the game.
