The Wolf Pack bounced back from a tough loss last week to rival UNLV to defeat the New Mexico Lobos on Saturday 35-17 in Mackey Stadium. After the game, the Coach Polian and some of the Wolf Pack players answer questions from the media. Here are some of the quotes from the press conference.
Head Coach Brian Polian on better performance of the offense after the UNLV loss: " Offensively, our goal was to score 35 points, so it was a really good job offensively." "We ran the ball terrifically. I thought Tyler was very effective when he pulled it in the read game. We threw it well enough, but really if you told me we were going to gain over six and a half a carry and we'd hold them to three and a half a carry, I would have said sign me up right now."
Coach Polian on bouncing back after the UNLV loss: " I think the biggest takeaway right now is how proud I am of the team and the resilience they showed. This time last week, it was like the sky had fallen and the season was over. They showed a lot of character and a lot of fight. I'm proud of the way they hung together and stuck together as a family through what was a difficult week."
Wolf Pack linebacker Jordan Dobrich on trying to be more consistent: "I think we are starting to actually be more consistent. Tonight guys were doing their job. I think we have something special"
Wolf Pack running back Don Jackson on the effort of the newer players: "Our new guys on the line did a great job, and play after play they kept their eyes up and picked up the right people. Next man up is so big in this program and everyone has to be prepared to go out there. The details are so important on our offense in general. That split second we needed for guys to stay on blocks, they stayed on blocks."
Wolf Pack quarterback Tyler Stewart on the improved play of Jerico Richardson: "Jerico made some plays with the ball in his hands. I always try to spread it around to whoever is open, and he happened to be open a lot tonight. He's really come out in practice the last few weeks and that's showed tonight. He's just catching the ball and getting yards."
Tyler Stewart on the performance of the offensive line and helping out the defense: " The offensive line was doing a great job all night. We can't settle for field goals and we have to help out our defense and we did that tonight."
