Boise State football recruiting: Broncos land offensive tackle Eric Quevedo

Boise State picked up a verbal commit over the weekend when West Covina (High) California offensive tackle Eric Quevedo verbally pledged to be a Bronco.

Quevedo is a consensus three-star lineman and has the size to back it up by being 6-foot-5, and 285 pounds, which he likely will bulk up to closer to 300 pounds. He took his official visit on Jan. 17 but he did not have a scholarship offer from the Broncos staff heading into the visit. He was offered before he left on Saturday evening, and on Sunday morning committed to Boise State.

"The coaches were not all about football, they care a lot about the players personally with academics and all that," Quevedo told the Idaho Press-Tribune. "I felt like I had a good connection and bond with the coaches and all the fans out there, they really love Boise State football."

Quevedo was down to San Diego State and Boise State, and he too an official visit to the Aztecs on Dec. 13. UNLV and UTEP also had offers out to Quevedo.

This is a big get for Boise State since Quevedo missed seven games in his junior season due to an injury, and the lack of tape slowed down his recruiting process. Even by being named the offensive MVP of the Hacienda League his recruitment did not pick up from larger programs.

Even Boise State tapered off their interest after visiting him during this past spring up until getting visited by offensive line coach Scott Huff and running backs coach Kent Riddle after the Mountain West title game.

Offensive coordinator Mike Sanford visited Quevedo the first day after the dead period, and that second visit by Boise State coaches made a difference.

Quevedo is the third Boise State offensive lineman to verbally commit, and 13th overall.
