The 2014 NFL Draft just wrapped up on Saturday but there are already 2015 NFL Draft lists and mock drafts across the web. The Mountain West had a great NFL Draft this past weekend by getting 16 players drafted and numerous more signed as undrafted free agents.
The early 2015 mock drafts are one round at the moment, but there are zero Mountain West players being taken. However, that does not mean that the league will be shut out of getting a first rounder, because it is still extremely early.
CBS Sports put out their top-100 list and there are two Mountain West players who made the cut. The two players who made the cut are Utah State linebacker Kyler Fackell who is the third linebacker and No. 25 overall, and joining him is Fresno State free safety Derron Smith who is ranked first at his position and 33rd overall.
Fackell was one of the best linebackers on the Utah State roster last year and he put up big numbers in 2013 with 82 tackles, an interception returned for a touchdown, 13 tackles for a loss and five sacks. Fackell will be the best linebacker on Utah State's defense next year, and their defense should be one of the best, if not the best, in the Mountain West.
Smith has been one of the best Mountain West players over the past few seasons, and in 2013 he had seven interceptions, six passes broken up, eight tackles for loss and 87 tackles overall.
