Three interceptions proved too much to overcome tonight in Chapel Hill.

Tonight, the San Diego State Aztecs lost to the No. 21 North Carolina Tar Heels 31-27 in Chapel Hill.

SDSU outplayed UNC in almost every category and led for the majority of the game, but in the end, turnovers spelled SDSU's fate. Quarterback Quinn Kaehler threw three interceptions tonight. The first two led to 10 UNC points; the third ended the game on a potential-touchdown pass that could have won the game for the Aztecs.

Kaehler finished the game 23-39 for 341 yards, 341 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. He made three mistakes tonight, but unfortunately for SDSU fans, those three mistakes were critical. His 341 yards were a big part of SDSU's 509 total yards on offense, compared with UNC's 394. SDSU also held the for almost 15 minutes longer than the Tar Heels.

SDSU running backs ran for 171 yards, with Donnel Pumphrey gaining 100 yards and Chase Price netting 71.

The obvious player of the game is UNC quarterback Marquise Williams. Williams played fantastic and tore SDSU's secondary apart in the second half en route to his 255 passing yards and two touchdowns. He also led all Tar Heels with 63 yards on the ground.

The Aztecs next play at Oregon State on September 20. Game time is still yet to be determined.
