2014 college football rankings, Week 6: Mountain West shutout

New, comments

Not a shock to see that the Mountain West was shutout in the latest coaches poll.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The trend continues for the Mountain West to not have a team ranked and with Boise State falling to Air Force, it is likely that there will not be a Mountain West team to be ranked all year. The Broncos were the only team to even receiver any votes in the AP or USA TODAY Coaches poll, but this week there are none.

It is possible if Nevada or San Diego State go on to win 10 games then they could be ranked, but that seems likely.

There is a chance this Friday night when Utah State travels to  BYU who is No. 18 in the AP poll and 19 in the coaches poll. If the Aggies can pull off that upset then they should at least earn some votes in the polls.

Nevada does play BYU down the road and if the Cougars are ranked that could be the next real chance for a Mountain West team to be ranked.

Here are the updated polls.
