On Tuesday, New Mexico Lobos head coach Craig Neal conducted an in home visit with the No. 16 nationally ranked recruit in the 2015 class in Caleb Swanigan. Swanigan is a 6'8, 275-pound center from Homestead High School Fort Wayne, Indiana, and is rated as a five-star recruit by ESPN. Swanigan was a part of the USA U-17 team that took gold in Dubai this summer. He also played in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL). He led the EYBL in rebounding averaging 12 a game while scoring 17.7points a game.
Swanigan also had a scheduled in home visit with the University of Arizona on Wednesday. He is also being heavily recruited by Kentucky, Kansas, UCONN, Michigan, Michigan State and much other top college Basketball programs. The fact that Neal was granted an in home visit with Swanigan as the Lobos were not listed on any recruiting sight as one of his top choices. It will be tough for the Lobos to win the Recruiting battle the Lobos also lost out on Aaron Gordon to Arizona.
Swanigan is from the same town as Cullen Neal and goes to the same high school that Neal’s mom graduated from. If the Lobos are able to secure Swanigan he will join Jordan Hunter (SG), Dane Kuiper (SF), and Anthony Mathis (SG) as part of the 2015 class. The Lobos will also add Elijah Brown (Butler) and Tim Williams (Samford) who are sitting out the 2014 season after transferring to New Mexico.
