Air Force releases 2014-15 basketball schedule

The Air Force basketball team will use a relatively weak non-conference schedule to try and find an answer to the point guard void left by the transfer of Tre’ Coggins to Cal State Fullerton.

A two-game trip to Colorado and Texas Tech over the Thanksgiving holiday week is the highlight in an otherwise light non-conference schedule for the Air Force Falcons basketball team. Preceding the trip to Boulder and Lubbock are home games against foes from the Division II Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Colorado Christian and Western State. Both teams have been annual opponents for the Falcons.

Air Force will open up their season journey by competing in the Fourth Annual All-Military Classic. The tournament is on a rotating basis and this year's site will be at West Point, New York. Participating teams besides the Falcons are Army, The Citadel and Virginia Military Institute.

The weaker than usual non-conference schedule for Air Force will allow Head Coach Dave Pilipovich an opportunity to find a point guard for his overall experienced group. Tre Coggins recently settled on Cal State Fullerton as a transfer destination, opening up a gigantic void in the Falcon's starting line-up.

Pilipovich had been trying to schedule a third major opponent for the Falcons to combine with the challenges of the Buffaloes and Red Raiders this season, but was unsuccessful in finding a team to play his Air Force squad.

There will be no easy task for the Falcons in the Mountain West portion of the schedule. The conference opener is against Mountain West powerhouse San Diego State on the road. Air Force will only play Wyoming once at home and Fresno State on the road. The entire schedule is listed below.
