MWC Top 50: No. 37 is New Mexico WR/KR Carlos Wiggins

We are counting down the top 50 players in the Mountain West this season and are currently at the No. 37 spot.

This summer, the Mountain West Connection crew is counting down the top 50 players heading into the 2014 Mountain West season. The criteria is objective because a top 50 list could be considered who's the best is different per person, so this list will vary.

Next up in our top 50 is New Mexico wide receiver and return Carlos Wiggins who comes in at No. 37. Wiggins was named the Mountain West preseason special teams player of the year, and deservedly so. Last year, Wiggins had seven total touchdowns with a combination of rushing, receiving and on kick returns. He averaged 109 yards on kick returns per game and 30 per touch on kickoffs.

He caught only 13 receptions the whole year but part of that has to do with the run heavy offense and lack of a throwing quarterback, and he also ran the ball for 237 yards and averaged 18.23 per touch.

Wiggins should be involved in the offense more heading into his junior season, and if the passing game can pick even a little bit, then he could be a real threat in the Lobos offense.
