This summer the Mountain West Connection crew is counting down the top 50 players heading into the 2014 Mountain West season. Because the criteria is objective regarding who should be considered "the best," opinions are different for each person. It naturally follows, then, that the results on this list will vary; out of the 94 players who received votes, only 17 were consensus top 50 players, receiving votes from every panel member.
The No. 27 spot goes to UNLV offensive lineman Brett Boyko. Boyko plays left tackle for the Rebels, who will look to him as the leader on the line. Brett is, perhaps, one of the most interesting players in the Mountain West Conference; his history at different positions alludes to a very diverse and entertaining skill set. The 6'7", 310 lb. Canada native switched to the O-line only in college, having played defensive line and, get this, quarterback in high school. Boyko was named a 1st team all-conference player in several lists, and was chosen as the conference's best pass blocker by Lindy's. The Rebels offense will depend in large measure on Brett's o-line, as will his stock in the NFL draft next year.
