Honors are nothing new to Austin Lopez. He started his career at San Jose State as a true freshman in 2012 and was named a freshman AA by the FWAA. He was also a semifinalist on the Lou Groza Collegiate Placekicker Award for the same year.
You kick a lot of field goals to be considered for this award. A few highlights stick out in my mind. He tied a school record with four field goals against Navy in 2012 in a 12-0 victory. He is the second player in school history to score over 100 points in a season. He also tied a NCAA record by hitting on 23 straight field goal attempts. I could go on but you get the idea. He's good and he deserves the honor of being considered for the award.
