On Wednesday New Mexico released its schedule for the 2014-2015 basketball season. This years schedule is highlighted by the Puerto Rico Challenge in which the Lobos have the possibility of playing UConn, Dayton, West Virginia or Texas A&M. Most of the Lobos opponents finishing outside the RPI top 100 in 2013-2014.
The weaker schedule means that the Lobos have little room for error and must depend on the rest of the conference to get key wins before Conference play to help the Lobos boost there RPI and chances at a third straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Even with seven newcomers to the team the Lobos are still expected to finish in the top three of the conference with favorites San Diego State and UNLV.
The Lobos will face both teams at home just three days apart. They will host San Diego on Wednesday, Feb. 18 before welcoming UNLV to The Pit on Saturday, Feb. 21. The regular Season will end on March 7 when the Lobos Face Wyoming at home on Senior Day.
