Not long after James Bailey's formal announcement that he would join the Bulldogs' 2015 recruiting class, defensive coordinator Nick Toth hinted at the certainty of a second Texan joining the Red Wave's ranks. With Jalen Smith having taken an unofficial visit to the campus on Monday, many were able to put two and two together. It wasn't until Smith himself took to Twitter that word became official:
I'm proud to announce that I have officially committed to play college football at Fresno St. University #GoDogs #AGTG

A native of Houston, the 5'10" and 175-pound Smith is a two-star recruit out of St. Pius X High School. According to Scout.com, he had a wealth of interested schools involved, but just one other FBS program -- New Mexico -- had made him an official offer before he committed to the Bulldogs. He is the third commit to the 2015 class and the second cornerback, signifying a concerted effort to bolster depth in future defensive backfields.
