MWC Top 50: No. 49 is UNLV DB Peni Vea

We are counting down the top 50 players in the Mountain West this season and are currently at the No. 49 spot.

This summer the Mountain West Connection crew is counting down the top 50 players heading into the 2014 Mountain West season. The criteria is objective because a top 50 list could be considered who's the best is different per person, so this list will vary.

There were 94 players who earned a vote, but coming in at No. 49 is UNLV safety Peni Vea. Last year, Vea was an honorable mention all-Mountain West player, and Phil Steele named him to his preseason all-Mountain West second team.

Vea was heavily involved in stopping the running game with 102 tackles to go along with a pair of interceptions and also a pair of passes broken up.
