I may sound like a broken record, and for that I apologize. But yes. Aztec football has received yet ANOTHER verbal commitment for 2015, this time from Texas running back Jatory Sparks-Brown.
Sparks-Brown, a 5-foot-10, 195-pound running back from DeSoto High School in DeSoto, Texas, received three stars from ESPN and two stars from Rivals.com. The Texas native also has offers from Illinois State, Northern Colorado, Toledo, Utah State, and as of two hours ago, Fresno State.
Here's his ESPN Scouting Report:
"STRENGTHS: Displays good burst to get downhill and get through the hole. Has good patience to follow blockers and make a cut to get north. Not afraid to lower shoulder and make a collision with defender. ...
AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Is lacking a second gear once in the open field. Is not overly elusive but does flash the ability to make defenders miss with some foot quickness. ...
BOTTOM LINE: Sparks-Brown is a big, physical back who will need to improve playing speed but has good anticipation of defenders around him once through the line of scrimmage. Most likely a Division I BCS level back."
Sparks-Brown helped lead DeSoto High to its MaxPreps No. 5 national ranking in his junior season, in which he carried the ball 75 times for 504 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also caught seven passes for 116 yards.
