Rams Land First Commit for 2015

With the departures of running backs Kapri Bibbs, Donnell Alexander and Chris Nwoke, the running back situation in Fort Collins is in question for the future. Colorado State addressed those needs in the 2014 recruiting class by signing three tailbacks: Deionte Gaines, Treyous Jarrells and Deron Thompson.

They also added preferred walk-on running back Jalen Williams out of Denver's Regis Jesuit High School. In addition to the four members of the 2014 class, the Rams also received transfer running back Dalyn Dawkins from Purdue, the nephew of former Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos safety Brian Dawkins. Dawkins will help with Colorado State's depth, but won't be eligible to play until 2015.

Enter Javonte Adams, the Rams first commit of 2015. The all-purpose back out of O.D. Wyatt High School in Fort Worth, Texas, made his decision on Sunday that he would be joining the deep stable of young backs heading to Colorado State. Adams, a two star recruit (per Rivals), had received offers from six schools, notably, Colorado State, Illinois, and Houston. Clocked with a 4.4 40 time and 100 meter sprint in the range of 10.6, Adams gives the Rams some much needed speed.

With the chance to come in and compete for carries right away, Adams feels that Colorado State is the best place for him. Even with the large number of running backs to compete against, it is no guarantee that these players will end their careers playing running back for the Rams. Just ask new running Jasen Oden, who began his career at Colorado State at safety before moving to the offensive side of the ball this offseason.

No matter what the situation is in the fall of 2015, the Rams will gladly accept the running back who rushed for 1,734 yards and 18 touchdowns in his junior year.
