Boise State’s 2015 class has gotten off to a roaring start this year with a package of five top recruits. The latest commit is WR Akilian Butler out of West Mesquite High School in Mesquite, Texas who pledged to join the Broncos on Monday.

Butler's oral commitment comes on the heels of the announcement here on Saturday that four-star quarterback Brett Rypien was also joining the Broncos.
"I pulled the trigger because of my relationship with coach Junior Adams," Butler told KTVB’s Jay Tust over the phone. "It’s a real good relationship. I love him as a coach. He’s an even better person."
The addition of Rypien to the Broncos future team seemed to be the catalyst. "I love the quarterback that just committed - Brett - I love how he plays," Butler added. "I started watching tape on Brett after he committed. When I saw it on twitter, I immediately went to Hudl (a recruiting website) and saw his film."
It also helps that Boise State’s only other 4-star player, Dylan Sumner-Gardner, was Butler’s teammate at West Mesquite High School. "He’s like an older brother," Butler told Tust about Sumner-Gardener.
Butler is ranked as the No. 88 player in the talent-rich state of Texas and the second 2015 commit for the Broncos from that state. He had offers from Clemson and Colorado and was receiving interest from other schools including Utah, Arkansas, Nebraska and Arizona State. While some are speculating that he might take visits to other schools, West Mesquite coach Jeff Neill says Butler is firmly committed to the Broncos and doesn't plan on future visits.
