WHAT: Wyoming Cowboys (18-14, 9-9 MWC) @ Texas A&M Aggies (17-15, 8-10 SEC)
WHEN: Wednesday, March 19th @ 6:00 p.m. MST
WHERE: College Station, Texas
LINE: Texas A&M by 4
COVERAGE: Fox College Sports (Pacific)
LAST MEETING: These two teams met in Laramie, WY in the 1986 NIT Tournament with Wyoming coming away with the win, 79-70. Texas A&M leads the overall series 3-1.
What to Watch - Wyoming: With the youth of this Cowboy team and a majority of this squad returning next year, this is an outstanding opportunity for a young team to gain some big venue experience and continue to grow. This season showed plenty of promise with some late season let-down, and one has to assume that Coach Shyatt is taking active steps in providing opportunities that will continue to prepare his team for a very big 2014-2015 season. Sophomore guard Josh Adams has been the predominate scoring leader for Wyoming, boasting a 24 point average over the last four games, and will likely be their go-to guy and creator of scoring opportunities for the rest of the team.
What to Watch - Texas A&M: The Aggies have many similarities to the Cowboys in their youth, defensive focus, and ability to surprise a few teams (two of them being Tennessee). Their last game was a nail-biting SEC Tournament grudge match against a very talented Missouri team that led to a heartbreaking double overtime loss. Their leading scorer, Jamal Jones, averages 13.6 ppg and will look to continue holding down the fort in College Station. The Aggies are 16-3 this year at home and will look to continue that 12th man momentum in this somewhat rare MWC vs. SEC match up.
