The Boise State Broncos are heading to the Fiesta Bowl for the third time in school history and will take on Pac-12 runner-up the Arizona Wildcats. Arizona lost to the Oregon Ducks in the Pac-12 title game and finished with a 10-3 record. The Wildcats had multiple wins over ranked opponents in Oregon, Utah and Arizona State to earn its spot in the Fiesta Bowl.
The Broncos earned this bid by going 12-2 and winning the Mountain West and also by being the highest rated team amongst the Group of Five. Boise State is also playing their best football over the past three-plus games starting with the second half comeback win over San Diego State, and then dominant wins over Wyoming, Utah State and Fresno State.
Mountain West commissioner Craig Thompson was confident that if Boise State won the conference that they would be heading to the Fiesta Bowl.
The only downside to Boise State playing Arizona is that this game is about 100 miles from the Wildcats' campus.
Arizona finished ranked 10th while Boise State ended up No. 20 in the final College Football Playoff poll.
