Today the San Diego State athletic department sent a letter to its fans, saying that it believes the Aztecs will play the Navy Midshipmen in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.
The Aztecs earned their fifth consecutive bowl game appearance with their 38-7 victory against San Jose State last Saturday. That bowl streak is a program record and it's tied with the Stanford Cardinal's bowl-game streak for the longest active streaks in California.
"We're one of a very few number of teams going to their fifth-straight bowl game," Rocky Long said last week. "Last year, 29 teams went to four-straight bowl games, so obviously there's two or three that aren't going to their fifth. So we'll be in the top quarter of the country of Division I football teams (going to five-straight bowl games)."
SDSU has won its last eight games at Qualcomm Stadium, where the Poinsettia Bowl is played.
Navy accepted its big to the Poinsettia Bowl on Nov. 28.
The Aztecs will know for sure which bowl game they'll play in this Sunday.
