The San Diego State Aztecs (7-5) lead the Navy Midshipmen (7-5) 13-7 at halftime in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. SDSU running back Donnel Pumphrey has 66 yards on the ground so far, just 22 yards away from SDSU's single-season rushing record.
Pumphrey scored the Aztecs' only touchdown. Placekicker Donny Hageman added their other two scores with field goals from 43 and 37 yards out. Those two gave Hageman 19 field goals on the year, which is an SDSU single-season record.
The Midshipmen entered tonight's game averaging more than six yards per carry. SDSU's defense has held them to just three yards per carry.
Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds scored the only Midshipmen touchdown with a 1-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter.
SDSU quarterback Quinn Kaehler threw an interception on SDSU's first possession, which Navy turned into its only score.
SDSU senior wide receiver Ezell Ruffin is not playing tonight. According to the U-T San Diego's Tod Leonard, Ruffin was given permission to attend to a personal matter if he still attended practice, and Ruffin didn't attend practice.
Ruffin asked to attend to personal matter. The captain was given permission to do so as long as he didn't miss practice. He missed.
