Boise State adds two recruits to their 2015 class

Arizona TE Matt Pistone and California S Evan Tyler are the Broncos latest commits

Brian Losness-USA TODAY Sports

Yuma Catholic High School tight end Matt Pistone, 6-4, 230 lbs, of Yuma Arizona had more than a dozen scholarship offers from such schools as Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Washington , and Colorado but he was looking for just the right fit. He found it yesterday and committed to the Boise State Broncos. He had originally committed to Oregon State but when head coach Mike Riley left for the Nebraska job, he decided to rethink his options.

"I really loved what was up there," Pistone told the Yuma Sun. "I really loved the people, the team, the environment. It just seemed like there were no cons about Boise State."

Besides the coaching change, another part of his decision to switch schools is the Broncos use of tight ends. They run a lot of three and four tight end sets and recent changes to the offense since midseason suggests OC Mike Sanford is making that position a key element once again in the Broncos offense. For Pistone, that translates to the possibility of getting serious playing time earlier in his college career.

Pistone is a three-star recruit according to Rivals.com and helped lead the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks to their second straight state title and a 14-0 finish this year. He will play tight end for the Broncos.

Safety Evan Tyler, 6-2, 180 lbs, of Eleanor Roosevelt High in Corona, California is also a three-star recruit.  And like Pistone, he felt much the same way about Boise State. Tyler held an offer from SJSU when he decided to take a look at the Broncos in mid-November. He committed to Boise State on Wednesday following a visit to SJSU over the weekend.

"When I went up there to Boise I just felt like it was a home type of feeling," he told the Idaho Statesman. "I feel like I’m in the right spot. It’s a good spot for me."

These two bring the number to fourteen signed or commited to the Boise State 2015 class.
