After playing their last two games at the friendly confines of Lawlor Events Center, Nevada once again hits the road and face the 6-4 Pacific Tigers at the Alex G. Spanos Center. The Wolf Pack are looking to end a seven-game losing streak which is the longest losing streak in two years which the Wolf Pack loss the final eight games of that season.
The Wolf Pack have shot only 35.6 percent from the field during this losing streak while opponents have shot 40.7 percent against Nevada. Nevada faces a Pacific team that has won three of its last four games and in the last seven meetings between the Tigers and the Wolf Pack, Pacific has won six of the last seven meetings including a 80-78 Pacific victory at Reno last year.
The Tigers are led by their starting guards T.J. Wallace and Dulani Robinson as both players take turns running the point and the two guard position as well. Wallace, who is the taller of the two guards at 6-3, averages 14 points per game and leads the team in rebounding by averaging six per game. Robinson is averaging 11 points per game and leads all Tigers in assist with three per game.
Pacific also is helped in the paint on defense with 7-foot center Sami Eleraky who averages five rebounds a game, but he is still a defensive presence. Just look back at the game against Idaho State on Dec. 6 when Eleraky grabbed 10 rebounds and had five blocks. Wolf Pack head coach David Carter said of the Tigers "They've got good size and there size can be a problem and the seven footer is long and can defend you".
In order for Nevada to snap the losing streak, they are going to need contributions from point guard Marqueze Coleman. The 6-4 Coleman, who moved into the starting after playing behind Deonte Burton, leads the team in scoring with 10.4 points a game and Coach Carter is hoping his junior guard can be a play-maker. "When we go two or three minutes without a basket, someone's got to make that play and with the ball in the point guard's hands all the time, he's in a better position to make a play." The Pack and the Tigers tip off at 7pm PST.
