The final game of the regular season is upon us. This is the end of the season rivalry game for both Colorado State and Air Force. The two teams compete for the Ram-Falcon Trophy, which is in the hands of the Rams after a 58-13 victory last year in Fort Collins. This game however has huge postseason implications and the Falcons will be looking to not only play spoiler but possibly get into a better bowl tie-in. Here are three reasons why Colorado State will beat Air Force and Retain the Ram-Falcon Trophy.
Running Game
The Rams have a two headed rushing attack led by Dee Hart. The junior running back rushed last week for 230 yards and 5 touchdowns. Hart had 6 touchdowns overall and with the smaller front seven that the Falcons have the Rams shouldn't have a problem controlling the line. Treyous Jarrells should have a good game as well if he's healthy.
Passing Attack
The Rams have shown that Rashard Higgins isn't the only explosive receiver that Garrett Grayson has at his disposal. Grayson has Joe Hansley, Charles Lovett, Xavier Williams, Eloy Masters, Steven Walker among others. Grayson should have enough time to find open receivers. This could be the last time for Higgins to impress the committee for the Biletnikoff Award if the Rams don't make the conference title game.
Urgency
The Rams know that they need to win this game to keep hope alive to win the mountain division. If they lose they could possibly drop to third place depending on who wins the Boise State - Utah State matchup. The Ram defense needs to stay disciplined against the triple option attack. Playing with a sense of urgency and staying smart on both ends of the ball gives the Rams a big chance of winning this game.
This should be a good game, possibly a shootout; However I believe the Rams offensive attack will be too much for the Falcons due to the big receivers from Colorado State. Expect big games from Higgins, Williams and Dee Hart.
