Week 14 Mountain West football odds

Time to take a look at the early odds this week for the final regular season week of Mountain West football play.

Chris Nicoll-USA TODAY Sports

There are plenty on the line this week as there are six teams vying for two spots to be in the Mountain West title game -- three from each side. There are also plenty of big games this week and the first game starts on Black Friday with a very key game as Colorado State travels to Air Force and the Rams need to win to just stay in the conversation to win the Mountain Division.

Then on Friday there are five other games with all but one game not having an impact on the divisional races.

Teams Win-Loss Streak Open Current Spread Money O/U
Colorado State (10-1) (4-1 A) W-9 -5 -7 0% n/a n/a
Air Force (8-3) (5-0 H) L-1 0% n/a n/a

This game gets going on Friday afternoon and Colorado State has already jumped out to a touchdown road favorite over Air Force. Not having running back Jacobi Owens hurts the Falcons, and that is why the Rams will win and cover. With that they will stay in contention for a Mountain Division title.

Wyoming (4-7) (1-4 A) L-2 n/a n/a n/a
New Mexico (3-8) (0-5 H) L-3 -6 -4.5 n/a n/a n/a

This is the only game that has zero implications for either division race (at least I think so since tiebreakers run deep). The Lobos opened as a six-point favorite but that has dropped to 4.5. This is a tough one to pick since neither team played well last week, so lets go with the Lobos to cover this game.

Nevada (6-5) (3-2 A) L-2 -10 -9.5 n/a n/a n/a
UNLV (2-10) (2-3 H) L-5 n/a n/a n/a

The battle for the Freemont Cannon is up for grabs and despite Nevada being on a two-game losing streak they are still a 9.5-point favorite. UNLV just blew its last game to Hawaii and are going nowhere, and Nevada is just better. Gotta take the Wolf Pack early in the week.

San Jose State (3-8) (1-5 A) L-5 -4 n/a n/a n/a
San Diego State (6-5) (5-0 H) W-1 -11.5 n/a n/a n/a

This line is crazy. Somehow it opened as a four-point road favorite for San Jose State and then it changed to San Diego State being a 11.5-point favorite. There probably was an error on the website who posted these lines, but even at 11.5 Aztecs should be the favorite and cover. With the division on the line the Aztecs want to win.

Teams Win-Loss Streak Open Current Spread Money O/U
Hawaii (4-8) (1-4 A) W-2 n/a n/a n/a
Fresno State (5-6) (3-2 H) W-2 -12 -11 n/a n/a n/a

This game is the only matchup that can determine the West division on its own. Fresno State wins and they win the West. Assuming the Bulldogs play as well as they did against Nevada this is a no-brainer cover and win for Fresno State. Having said that, look for Hawaii to cover but not win. This year's Mountain West has been crazy.

10:15 PM Game Time Record Line Betting Trend
Teams Win-Loss Streak Open Current Spread Money O/U
Utah State (9-3) (3-3 A) W-5 n/a n/a n/a
Boise State (9-2) (5-0 H) W-6 -9 -9 n/a n/a n/a

This game is the best matchup of the day and at this point of the evening we will know how the Mountain Division can be won. Again, if Colorado State beats Air Force on Friday then Utah State is out and a Boise State loss sends the Rams to the Mountain West title game. A Colorado State loss means a Utah State win could send them to the title game. Even more simple, Boise State wins they win the Mountain.

Seeing this game at nine points for Boise State seems a lot. My early lean is to take Utah State to cover but the Broncos to get the victory.
