2014 college football rankings, Week 11: Colorado State still not ranked

Colorado State is still not ranked after its closer than expected win against San Jose State on Saturday.

Lance Iversen-USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado State Rams are the closest thing that the Mountain West has to be ranked in the AP or coaches poll. The Rams played in a closer than expected game against the San Jose Spartans to win 38-31.

However, the game itself was not that close. Give credit to the Spartans for taking advantage of the Rams miscues. Colorado State had a punt bounce of its own player and San Jose State picked it up and then converted that into a touchdown. Later in the game on a field goal attempt the Rams botched on what appeared to be a fake, and then San Jose State's Tyler Ervin scored on the next play from scrimmage for 89 yards and a touchdown.

Not saying that the pollsters don't pay attention, well actually I am, they don't have time to look at how these games actually played out and just look at the box score. Can't blame them because there is no time to do enough quality research on these games.

With that being said, Colorado State is earning 81 points in the coaches poll which is good for 27th and then in the AP poll they are 26th with 67 points. Boise State is also getting consideration in the coaches poll with five points.

Look for Colorado State to be ranked next week if they can get a win over Hawaii,
